Breaking-In: Terrible Experience

As they said, "Mas matakot ka sa buhay kaysa sa patay" and now I can attest to this statement.

Two days ago, after going to the mall, I was shocked to what I have discovered when I got home. It was 4 in the afternoon.

From afar, I already saw the gate's already slightly open. It's not always the case. I know that my house mate's gone for work and he's not going to be back until the evening. I already had a bad feeling when I saw it and it was confirmed when I went straight to the main door and saw how these people masterfully destroyed it to break in.

Yes.

Some people, should I say, criminals broke into our house. I went inside to check what happened and it's a traumatic sight for me. My house mate's things were all messed up as well as that of my uncle's. All their stuff were all over the place. I knew that their rooms weren't locked before this happened. Fortunately, my room was locked and so they did not bother to get in.

Nothing huge in terms of value was lost other than a DVD player, 700 bucks, shoes, and the most funny thing, a 1.5L of Mountain Dew.

I know that it's not nice to think bad of other people but I can't think of some people who can do this other than the informal settlers a few distance from the subdivision.  A few days before this incident, our dog just died. We were totally clueless why our dog died and according to my housemate, Nikki (dog's name) was vomiting blood before he died. It's just a hunch, but we're thinking that somebody might have given Nikki some food with poison. In this way, they could just easily break in and nothing could get our neighbor's attention while they're doing this crime.

I thank God for not allowing anyone of us to be hurt and that we're all safe. However, right now, I am still paranoid that this might happen again and I am not sure if I can still get a good sleep. It's traumatic to say the least. This is the first time that I have experienced this and all I thought, this incident is just one of those scenes in TV melodramas and movies.

Right now, we're trying to see what we can do to improve security. Get a dog, improve locks, etc.

I just hope and pray that this won't happen again the future.

I know that God will save and keep us from any harm. I trust Him.
